In honor of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace, and as a tribute to the father and founding leader, the team behind the Zayed Al-Khair website established the world’s highest painted portrait exhibition in celebration of the Year of Zayed. This remarkable exhibition was set up at the summit of Mount Mera Peak, which stands at 6,470 meters in the Himalayas. The exhibition featured seven hand-painted portraits of the late Sheikh Zayed—representing the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates.
The exhibition was accompanied by several events organized by the team. The official inauguration took place at an altitude of 4,900 meters in the town of Karekham, where four portraits were displayed. The first depicted the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the second featured President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the third showcased Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the fourth honored Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The events gradually ascended toward the summit, including the signing of the first edition of The Encyclopedia of Nobility, a book titled His Highness, which documents the official activities of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed in 2015. This took place at an altitude of 5,045 meters. A special edition of the book, along with a portrait of Sheikh Zayed, was also signed and presented as a gift to the UAE Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal. The team personally delivered it to the UAE ambassador on Sunday, June 3, 2018. Additionally, two panoramic sculptures of Sheikh Zayed were displayed at 5,350 meters.
As a precautionary measure, the team set up an exhibition at 5,650 meters in case of unforeseen challenges that could prevent them from reaching the summit of Mera Peak.
Among the significant initiatives carried out during this journey were educational video campaigns targeting the Emirati community. These videos emphasized the importance of water and energy conservation, encouraged young Emiratis to quit smoking, and promoted the No to Drugs campaign. Additionally, they raised awareness about maintaining proper relationships to prevent communicable diseases. All these efforts were documented through photos and videos during the expedition.
With determination and perseverance, the Zayed Al-Qimmah team successfully reached the highest point of Mera Peak at 6,470 meters. However, due to strong winds, they were unable to set up the exhibition at the very peak. Instead, they descended slightly and established the final exhibition at 6,210 meters, securing an official certificate of achievement from the Nepalese government.
The project was officially launched after the team met with the UAE ambassador in Nepal and presented him with commemorative gifts, including the signed portrait and book His Highness, at 5,045 meters. They also gifted a special souvenir shirt adorned with the UAE flag, presented by the Zayed Al-Qimmah team.
Throughout their ascent, at every point on Mount Mera Peak, the Zayed Al-Qimmah team left a lasting mark—a tribute that reminds the world of an extraordinary leader, a unique legacy, and a man who embodied the greatness of a nation.
